The Ultimate Mushroom Matcha Ranking: From Best to Worst (Updated 2025)
Mushroom matcha is having a moment. The fusion of functional superfoods and antioxidant-packed matcha has created a delicious drink that has a loooong list of health benefits. But not all mushroom matchas are created equal - I found this out the hard way. I spent several weeks testing all the top brands to create this definitive ranking of the top mushroom matchas on the market. My criteria? Organic certification, ceremonial grade, solubility, vibrant green color, smooth/fine texture, origin (hello, Japan!), subscription pressure, aroma, flavor and — last but not least - how it made me feel!
Here’s how they stacked up…
Cuppa takes the top spot — and for good reason. They’ve nailed the tricky balance of quality matcha and functional mushrooms without compromising purity or taste. I genuinely couldn’t tell this wasn’t pure matcha...
Organic? Yes.
Ceremonial Grade? Yes.
Mixability: Flawless. Whisk, spoon, or frother — it blends effortlessly. No sediment, no clumps.
Color: Bright, electric green that is just so satisfying!! It was the only one that looked like high quality matcha.
Texture: Ultra-fine, silky, luxury-level smoothness. Some of the others I needed to break out the sieve for!
Sourced from Japan? Yes.
Subscription Needed? No subscription required (major win).
Smell: Fresh + Sweet.
Taste: Smooth, creamy + rich. No bitterness.
How it made us feel: Clear headed, calm, focused + energized. This feeling lasted until the late afternoon!
Price: $35, Subscription Price: $29.75
Verdict: Cuppa is the clear winner. With its organic, ceremonial grade matcha, impeccable texture, and vibrant color. It delivered on every front and I think this is the only one that would satisfy matcha purists or come close to the quality you’d expect from a $7 matcha latte.

Renude, known for the "Chagaccino," has a Chaga Matcha too! Sugar-free but sweetened with monk-fruit, let’s see how it tastes…
Organic? No.
Ceremonial Grade? Yes.
Mixability: Very good — dissolves easily.
Color: Dark, brownish-hue.
Texture: Gritty granules.
Sourced from Japan? Yes.
Subscription Needed? No subscription required.
Smell: Earthy and vegetal, albeit a bit stale?
Taste: There was a subtle sweetness from the monkfruit, some spicy cinnamon notes and earthy hints of mushroom. The flavor was a bit all over the place, not unpleasant but not the ‘matcha ice cream’ flavor the website promised either.
How it made us feel: Clear-minded focus, a steady energy with no jitters thought it didn’t last beyond lunch.
Price: $55, Subscription Price: $49
Verdict: There’s a lot to love about this brand. I think with some tweaking on the taste and a lower price point it would be a closer race.
I was very excited to try this one as they add collagen to their blend but it fell a bit flat…
Organic? No.
Ceremonial Grade? Yes.
Mixability: Excellent — froths easily.
Color: Dull-ish brown color with green tinge.
Texture: Smooth, fine and light.
Sourced from Japan? Yes.
Subscription Needed? Yes. I hate these forced subscriptions so it was a turn off for me. Also, price increases on future orders!
Smell: Fresh, grassy.
Taste: Couldn’t taste the mushrooms but couldn’t taste the matcha either! Very bland and overshadowed by collagen protein which was the lions share of the dose (over 5000mg of collagen vs less than 2000mg of matcha + mushrooms. The taste DID improve with creamer and sweetener over ice but quite unpleasant but maybe my least favorite undoctored.
How it made us feel: Calm focus but no energy boost.
Subscription Price: $35 for first order and $39 every delivery after.
Verdict: Everyday Dose was overall a disappointment for me. The matcha base doesn’t shine through or feel potent enough to deliver on the taste and benefits I’m seeking.
Jibby offers a mushroom matcha latte mix sweetened with cane sugar in super cute packaging, let’s sip and see…
Organic? No.
Ceremonial Grade? No.
Mixability: Great, no grittiness or clumping.
Color: Dull, dark green.
Texture: Fine powder, smooth in both water and milk.
Sourced from Japan? Not confirmed. Couldn’t find any sourcing info.
Subscription Needed? No subscription required.
Smell: Not very Matcha like, a bit stale with earthy undertones.
Taste: Smooth and creamy but base flavor was not great. Vegetal, earthy and collagen forward but cane sugar did help. Ideally I would like less sugar in my matcha.
How it made us feel: This gave me a decent energy kick and I felt very productive in the morning. It didn’t wear as well throughout the day but sometimes added sugars have that subtle crash effect on my concentration.
Price: $50, Subscription Price: $35 for first order and $45 every delivery after.
Verdict: If you’re a latte lover and always add sweetener this could be worth a try! Overall, this just wasn’t for me as I want Matcha to be the main event and it felt like an after thought here..
Clevr Blends leans heavily into the "latte mix" territory, adding adaptogens and sweeteners.
Organic? No.
Ceremonial Grade? Yes.
Mixability: Froths incredibly easy and remains foamy with milk powders.
Color: Dull and yellow-ish.
Texture: Powdery, not the silky fine texture of high-end matcha.
Sourced from Japan? Yes.
Subscription Needed? No subscription required
Smell: Super sweet and coconut forward.
Taste: Very creamy, very sweet. The serving size was enormous here (3 tablespoons!). 2 milk powders, sweetener and salt are added. I loved the first sip and then the flavor became too much - the same way I feel about certain desserts that are super sweet.
How it made us feel: Cozy and comforting but just felt like an indulgent treet than an energizing ritual. Could be in the same category as a hot chocolate for me!
Price: $29, Subscription Price: $25.
Verdict: Great if you have a sweet tooth perhaps? Maybe even good for total beginners that are interested in matcha for the benefits but struggle with the flavor. Definitely not for the purists!
Possibly the biggest brand on this list so I’m very intrigued to see what their matcha is all about!
Organic? Yes.
Ceremonial Grade? Yes.
Mixability: Requires serious whisking to avoid clumps, this was the only matcha I struggled with in terms of solubility and sludge.
Color: Brownish-green.
Texture: Coarse and gritty, especially noticeable in water.
Sourced from Japan? Yes.
Subscription Needed? Yes. Another forced/hidden subscription.
Smell: Slightly stale and maybe a bit sour? Not the super fresh aroma we love.
Taste: Very earthy and quite a bold pungent flavor. Coconut forward but with a bitter aftertaste.
How it made us feel: Mild energy boost but no noticeable focus or clarity boost. Felt a bit flat in comparison to the others on this list.
Subscription Price: $40
Verdict: Let down by this - just felt like a low quality product with far too many added ingredients packed int. There was no distinct matcha flavor or aroma profile to be found.
Final Thoughts
Cuppa was the clear winner across all my categories for consideration. I even did a blind taste test so I wouldn’t be swayed by color, texture, packaging or ingredients and Cuppa was my number one again. It was the only cup I finished out of all the ones on this list. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
