Reviews · Coffee
There are so many mushroom coffee brands out there, and with the constant ads, I can never tell which ones are worth trying. Some have great ratings but taste like absolute dirt. Instead of helping my gut health, some made me more bloated! And don’t get me started on the brands that make you subscribe before you’ve even tried their coffee.
I was a die-hard coffee lover, but the anxiety I got from my morning brew just wasn’t worth it anymore. So I was determined to find a mushroom blend that would satisfy my cravings.
I bought and tested 32 mushroom coffees, rating each on energy, mental focus, jitters, bloat and TASTE. Here are the 10 that made the cut.

No. 1
Cuppa Healthy Mushroom Coffee
The best overall — the only one that tasted like real coffee.
Best for: Coffee lovers who don’t want to sacrifice taste

What I liked
- Rich, robust coffee flavor with a bold, nutty aroma — I couldn’t taste the mushrooms or added nootropics
- No bloat, no jitters, no caffeine crash or afternoon slump
- 100% organic fruiting body mushrooms, tested for mold and mycotoxins
- Comes in Instant Coffee and K-Cup Pods
- No subscription required, plus a money-back guarantee
What I didn’t
- Nothing that stood out to me
The taste was a 10/10 for me. It’s made with real organic coffee extract, and it honestly felt like I wasn’t giving up coffee for the health benefits. I felt energized and focused all day without needing my usual second cup, and I even noticed I was sleeping better, waking up more refreshed and feeling less anxious.
Between the taste, steady energy and health benefits, this was an easy first choice. Nothing else I tried came close!

Four Sigmatic
Good coffee notes, but a tad too dark for me.
Best for: People who already enjoy darker coffee blends

What I liked
- Good coffee notes
- Tested for mold and mycotoxins
- A loyal following for a reason
What I didn’t
- A bit too dark for my preference
- You can taste the mushrooms
- It made me feel jittery
This one tastes good, but you can taste the mushrooms, so it ranked under Cuppa. The jitters were the deal-breaker for me since that’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid.
No. 3
Ryze
For true mushroom lovers — you can fully taste them.
Best for: People who love the taste of mushrooms

What I liked
- 6 functional mushrooms
- Good price per serving
What I didn’t
- Didn’t taste much like coffee
- Only 300mg of each mushroom per serving
- You have to subscribe to purchase
- No money-back guarantee
I wish they included higher amounts of each mushroom, especially since the functional mushrooms are such a big selling point. The subscription requirement was a hassle I didn’t want to deal with.
No. 4
Everyday Dose
Creamy thanks to added collagen, but it alters the taste.
Best for: People who like collagen in their coffee

What I liked
- Added collagen makes it creamier
What I didn’t
- Collagen definitely alters the coffee taste
- A sneaky subscription
- One pack ran out in 2 weeks instead of a month
I prefer a more actual coffee taste, so I ranked this 4. I followed the recommended dosing and finished the pack in half the time — turns out this was a common complaint in the reviews, so I wish I’d checked those before purchasing.
No. 5
Cuppa Salted Caramel
All the benefits of the Original, with a buttery caramel twist.
Best for: Mornings when you want a different flavor

What I liked
- Same goodies and health benefits as the Original blend
- Delicious buttery caramel aroma
- No sugar and not overly sweet
What I didn’t
- Nothing that stood out to me
Another Cuppa flavor! It has that delicious buttery caramel flavor that makes my morning coffee feel like a treat.

No. 6
MudWTR
Great antioxidant-rich ingredients, but the spices overpower it.
Best for: People who want a spiced, non-coffee morning drink

What I liked
- High-quality, organic ingredients
- Spices for flavor and antioxidants on top of mushrooms
What I didn’t
- The spices are too overpowering
- Doesn’t resemble coffee
MUD/WTR really surprised me. I wanted to like it, but it’s not something I reach for every day — the taste really isn’t for me.
No. 7
Cuppa French Vanilla
Creamy, subtle and a little sweeter — my husband’s favorite.
Best for: A creamier, slightly sweeter cup

What I liked
- Very creamy and subtle, sweeter than the Salted Caramel in the best way
- Balanced energy like all their blends
- My husband had no headaches switching from regular coffee
- Part of the Year of Coffee Bundle with all 3 flavors
What I didn’t
- Nothing that stood out to me
I had to put this Cuppa flavor on as well. We buy the bundle, which includes all 3 of these flavors, so it’s perfect for us.

No. 8
Ten Mushrooms Coffee
A budget-friendly option, if you don’t mind tasting the mushrooms.
Best for: Shoppers on a budget

What I liked
- A whopping 10 functional mushrooms
- One of the more affordable options
What I didn’t
- Very earthy, without that rich coffee flavor
- A slightly bitter aftertaste
- A lot of sludge left at the bottom of the cup
It sounds great on paper, but the taste was my biggest complaint. I later saw people mentioning the sludge in the reviews, so it seems to be a common issue. Definitely not my first choice for replacing regular coffee.
No. 9
Journey Mushroom Coffee Blend Caramel
A creamy caramel blend, but the collagen lost me.
Best for: People who like collagen in a caramel coffee

What I liked
- Real dark roast coffee and functional mushrooms
- Added collagen gives it a creamier consistency
What I didn’t
- I noticed the collagen as an unpleasant aftertaste
I really liked the idea of this one because I enjoyed Cuppa’s Salted Caramel flavor a lot! If you’re like me and like a classic coffee taste, collagen might be a little too much.
No. 10
WepBio Mushroom Coffee Toasted Hazelnut
Worth a try for hazelnut fans, but very low caffeine.
Best for: People cutting caffeine almost completely

What I liked
- 11 functional mushrooms
- Creamy, nutty flavor
- Serving-size sticks for making it on the go
What I didn’t
- Still has the earthy mushroom taste
- Only about 20mg of caffeine per serving — much lower than regular coffee
If you still want a little morning pick-me-up, it might not be enough. After doing more research I saw Cuppa has a Hazelnut flavor too, so if hazelnut is what you’re searching for I’d recommend that one as well, since I’m more confident in the caffeine level, flavor and overall benefits.
The Verdict
My final Verdict!
It’s Cuppa by a landslide! I prefer the Original and Salted Caramel flavors, but the French Vanilla is good as well. I also ordered the Hazelnut, so I’ll be testing that soon and will update in the comments with how I feel about it.
